At the heart of the discursive and critical effort of the maat Explorations programme was the creation of the Climate Collective, a rotating group of specialists in the broad fields of contemporary art, design, and technology, which proposed a renewed perspective on the connection between creative practices, ecological thinking, and politics.
In its first year of activities, the programme took the form of nine events both at the museum and online, ranging from talks to fieldwork, under the title and theme Climate Emergency > Emergence.
From deserts to tundras, villages to cities, pavements to bridges, the visual identity of the programme was based on the creation of landscapes in constant flux, crafted with various overlapping natural and human elements. The colour palette alluded to an "other" atmosphere, aiming to create a sense of discomfort regarding the perception of nature across a variety of printed and digital formats: social media, website, screens in the museum space, brochures, Zoom backgrounds, film credits, and so on.
