Luisa Cunha’s retrospective exhibition — “Hello! Are you there?” — at MAAT presented the artist’s wide range of work: from video to drawing, painting and sculpture to her sound texts.
Because of her wide use of the word in her pieces, particularly in her “textos sonoros”, the word — and typography as its visual form — took center stage in the visual identity for the exhibition and communication media.
During conversations about colours, artist and curator casually listed and pointed at typefaces they liked: we used them all and then some (a total of 9!), while setting them to the rhythm of Luisa Cunha's piece “Artista à procura de si própria”, in which she calls “Luisa” over and over again.
“We like simple things,” they said. We hope we did justice to their request.
